They have all kinds of different and weird seafood. I especially love buying the big jumbo shrimp they have. Every time I buy it I know I have to make something special with it.

Which is why I thought this recipe for honey garlic shrimp would be a perfect use of this jumbo shrimp. It’s sweet, garlicky, zesty  and everyone loves it. We especially love all the pan sauce, so we always serve this with a crusty bread. Perfect for dipping in that sauce and trust me that sauce is money. Don’t waste any!

Honey Garlic Shrimp

This looks delicious. How do you change your method or cooking time when using frozen, precooked shrimp?

Prep Time: 25 minutes
Cook Time: 5 minutes
Total Time: 30 minutes

Ingredients

  •     1 1/2 lbs medium raw shrimp
  •     4 green onions (cut on the diagonal)
  •     2 tbsp oil (vegetable or olive)
Marinade
  •     1/2 cup honey
  •     4 garlic cloves minced
  •     1/2 tsp sesame oil
  •     1/4 cup soy sauce
  •     1/4 tsp white pepper
  •     1 lime juiced

Instructions

  1. Cut the green onion ends off and discard any outer leave that are not edible. Slice them on the diagonal into small bite size pieces. Set aside.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, sesame oil, garlic, lime juice and white pepper.
  3. Devein and clean the shrimp. Pinch off the tail shells and discard. Add shrimp to the honey soy mixture and marinate 20 minutes, covered, in the refrigerator.
  4. Heat oil in a large pan over medium-high heat. Shake off excess marinade and add the shrimp to the pan. Sear on each side; 1 minute until opaque and cooked through, turn over and cook about 1 minute more. Remove the shrimp and set aside.
  5. Add marinade to pan and bring to a boil. It should reduce and thicken, about 2 -3 minutes. Add the shrimp back to the pan and toss the shrimp in the sauce to coat the shrimp.
  6. Serve over steamed rice and sprinkle green onions and sesame seeds on top.
