Asian-Style Turkey Meatballs

Ingredients
For the meatballs:
- 2 lbs ground turkey
- 3 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 large egg
- 2/3 cup panko bread crumbs
- 1 jalapeño pepper ribs and seeds removed and finely chopped
- 3 tbsp fresh cilantro minced
- 1/2 cup onion finely chopped or grated
- 1 tbsp ginger paste
- 4 garlic cloves pressed
For the sauce:
- 1 c sweet and sour sauce
- 1 tbsp rice wine vinegar
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 1/4 cup barbecue sauce
- 1 tbsp sesame seeds
- 2 garlic cloves minced
Garnish
- Sesame seeds
- chopped cilantro
- chopped green onions
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350˚F.
- Mix the bread crumbs, egg, soy sauce, onion, cilantro, jalapeño, soy sauce, garlic, and ginger in a large bowl. Add the turkey and work the meat until it is evenly combined with the bread crumb mixture.
- Form into 2 inch balls and place evenly spaced on a cookie sheet. Bake for 40-45 minutes or until the meatballs are cooked through and reach 165˚F internal temp.
- In a saucepan over medium heat, mix the sweet and sour sauce, barbecue sauce, soy sauce, rice wine vinegar, garlic and sesame seeds until it just begins to boil and then remove from heat.
- Once the meatballs are done, mix them into the sauce and stir gently to coat. Serve warm garnished with sesame seeds, cilantro, and/or green onions. Enjoy!
