One of my favorite things about the holidays is the abundance of peppermint. And one of my favorite peppermint treats is Peppermint Patties. So it was only natural I made my own! These are some of the easiest candies I have ever made. Just as easy as these Peppermint Truffles.
The filling of these peppermint patties is super easy to make and comes together with only 3 ingredients. Sweetened condensed milk, peppermint extract and powdered sugar. The end result with be almost a dough like consistency. Roll it out just like you would a dough. I used a medicine cup to cut mine out. Super easy, simple, and most of us have one or twenty of those around the house or cluttering a cabinet. And it’s the perfect size, you want something that is going to make the patties about an inch wide.
A quick dip into some dark chocolate makes these little patties complete. They taste even better than the ones you can buy, and the best part is that the recipe makes a rather large batch of them. Perfect for snacking on, or you can be kind and give some away as gifts. These are best kept in the fridge until eaten.

Best Peppermint Patties
Prep Time: 20 minutes
Total Time: 20 minutes
Ingredients
- 1/4 cup softened butter
- 1-2 tsp peppermint extract
- 1/3 cup light corn syrup
- 2 cups dark dipping chocolate
- 3 cups powdered sugar
- chocolate jimmies if desired
Instructions
- Combine butter, corn syrup, extract and powdered sugar in a mixing bowl. Mix with an electric mixer for about 3 minutes, until ingredients are well combined and are holding together.
- Remove dough from bowl and break off about 2 teaspoon-sized sections. Roll into a ball and gently flatten with your hands. Put patties down on a pan lined with wax or parchment paper. Once all patties are made, place pan in the freezer for 10-15 minutes.
- Melt chocolate in microwave for 1 minute 20 seconds. Let sit for an additional minute in the microwave. Remove and gently stir. Remove peppermint patties from freezer. Use a fork or a handy Winton Dipping tool like I did to dip each patty in the chocolate, flip to coat the other side, then tap to remove any excess. Transfer chocolate coated patties to wax paper to cool. Top with chocolate jimmies if you'd like.
- Store in an airtight container, refrigerate if preferred but it's not necessary. Yields 40 mints.
